Family & Individual Support GroupsOne of the goals of the Epilepsy Foundation of Rochester-Syracuse-Binghamton is to help individuals and their families with epilepsy and related disabilities, and those dealing with traumatic brain injuries, reach their potential. Support groups provide opportunities for sharing feelings, for problem solving, and for networking with individuals in similar circumstances. Please take a look at the current support groups and schedules to find the group that best meets your needs. Adult Support Group 2009 Meeting Dates: Jan 8th -- Luncheon meeting from Noon to 1:00 pm, Feb 5th, Mar 5th, April 2nd, May 7th, June 4th, July 2nd, Aug 6th, Sept 3rd, Oct 1st, Nov 5th, Dec 3rd -- 1st Annual Adult Support Group Holiday Party This group enables adults to come together to share their experience and knowledge about living with epilepsy. Speakers on topics will be provided at some meetings, and other meetings will be open forums with an opportunity for personal sharing and networking. Call (585) 442-4430 for 2009 meeting dates and times. Challenges related to living with a brain injury often result in an upset of social skills needed to successful integrate into the community. This group provides a forum for younger adults (generally 18 - 35 years) who have experienced brain injuries to learn the social skills needed to be safe and successful adults in the community. It also provides participants the opportunity to learn more about themselves and their interaction styles. This group will provide encouragement to practice strategies for managing life. The group meets at the Epilepsy Foundation's main office at 1650 South Avenue, Suite 300, Rochester, NY. Although held at the Epilepsy Foundation,this group is free and open to anyone in the community with a brain injury.
