Seizure Recognition & First Aid Training

The Seizure Recognition & First Aid training program is a comprehensive instruction session about epilepsy, seizures, and appropriate first aid responses. The 1-hour training defines epilepsy and what seizures can look like. Participants will be able to:

• Recognize what seizures can look like
• Appropriately respond to seizures in three areas of first aid
• Know when to call for emergency assistance
• Understand their role as responder or observer

Epilepsy and Employment Training

The Epilepsy and Employment Training program is a 1-hour comprehensive training about epilepsy, seizures, appropriate first aid responses, and employment issues associated with epilepsy.  The main employment issues discussed are: common fears about hiring people with epilepsy, facts about epilepsy and employment, keys to success, vocational considerations, and possible accommodations for people with epilepsy.

    At the end of the training, participants will:

• Be able to identify proper first aid techniques for seizures
• Have a better understanding of the different types of seizures
• Be able to identify barriers to employment faced by people with epilepsy
• Have a better understanding of the facts about hiring people with epilepsy, with regards to injuries, insurance, time off and productivity
• Have a better understanding of the types of accommodations an employee with epilepsy may need
