Serving All of Washington and Oregon

Epilepsy is a neurological disorder that causes people to have recurrent seizures. A seizure is a brief disruption of electrical activity in the brain.

Epilepsy is the most common neurological disorder in children and the third most common neurological disorder in adults after Alzheimer's and stroke. It is equal in prevalence to cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease combined. Approximately 3 million Americans are affected by epilepsy, and approximately 200,000 new cases are diagnosed in the United States each year. One in 10 people will have a seizure at some point in their lives.

Epilepsy Foundation Northwest, formerly Epilepsy Foundation Oregon and Epilepsy Foundation Washington, is the principal advocate for the epilepsy community in Oregon and Washington.

We are committed to ensuring that children and adults living with seizures have the opportunity to fully participate in all life experiences.
